1. Starting with a standard 8.5 x 11 in sheet of paper, fold the bottom right hand corner of the sheet until the bottom edge of the paper is lined up with the opposite edge on the left side of the paper. Cut the remaining paper from the top edge where the two layers do not overlap.

2. You will be left with a square piece of paper that is folded as a triangle. Unfold the paper so that you are left with a single sheet of square paper. With the square, equally fold in each corner toward the center. This will leave you with a smaller square piece of paper with petal like flaps.

3. With the flaps still folded in toward the center, flip the square over so that the flaps are face down.

4. Begin folding the corners of the square into the center again, until you are left with an even smaller square of paper that resembles the image above.

5. Fold the square in half to create a rectangle.

6. Insert your fingertips under the open ends to form the completed fortune teller.

To start telling fortunes create color or number based systems to add to the paper and write fun fortunes under the flaps. Give it a try, today! What types of fortunes will you add to the paper fortune teller?

  1. How do you get to the Alps in Jumpstart?

    • Currently, the Central Park Zoo train and tunnel are the only way of exploring areas outside of the European Habitat’s Italy section. If the Alps area is further developed with new features in the near future, we’ll be sure to let you know.

  2. Thanks! I appreciate this.
