Free Fallin’!

UPDATE: FreeFall Mountain is now available in the SpeedDrome area.

Here at JumpStart, we’ve been working hard on creating a new area for Jumpeez to enjoy.  It’s called FreeFall Mountain, and it plays off of the popularity surrounding the Launch Pad feature.  Your kids will quite literally be reaching new heights when they visit FreeFall Mountain for a bit of sky diving!  Check out these sketches for a glimpse of what you’ll soon see at JumpStart.com…

The Ghostly Needle

Have you ever seen something floating in mid-air that wasn’t supposed to be there?  Perhaps it was a friendly neighborhood ghost letting you know of its presence?  Or perhaps it was the result of a magnetic field!

A magnetic field is the area of influence a magnet has over metals. A magnetic field covers the whole area where the attraction or repulsion of a magnet can be felt.  Magnetic fields are invisible, but the force that pulls on other magnetic materials can be very easily felt in this experiment displaying the concepts of magnetism.

A ghost hanging out

How could that needle be floating so?

  • Black, green, blue, brown, and red markers
  • 12 disposable cups
An eyeball fit for a party

The Blue Team is going to be shooting with a piece of art.

Instructions:

  1. Before the party begins, make eye balls with colorful irises out of the ping pong balls, one for each participant.
  2. Split the kids up into teams of 2 or 3 and give them the same-colored eye, so they know they are on the same team.
  3. On a hard surface (preferably a wood floor), line up four cups.
  4. On the first cup write 10; write 20 on the second. Write 50 on the third cup and 100 on the one farthest away. Make separate stations for each team.
  5. Have the kids and their team line up about 10 feet from the cups.
  6. Have them take turns bouncing the eyes, in hopes that it lands in a cup.
  7. For every shot made, add the score and determine what eye color is the winner!

Buddy List – How to

With JumpStart.com’s new buddy list feature, your child can meet up with real-life friends inside the game! So if your child’s neighbor, cousin or teammate is also using JumpStart.com, the kids now will be able to virtually explore, dance and learn together!

If you would like some help getting started with buddy lists, read on…

How do I add buddies?

You have two options:

1.  Adding a buddy code: Each player is given a buddy code. To retrieve your buddy code, go to:

Here, you’ll have the option to print out a set of cards with your child’s personal buddy code! Swap the code cards with friends and family members, so they can enter your child’s code on their buddy list.

2.  Another option to adding a buddy is within the game.  Click on a player that is close to you, and it will bring up that player’s game card.

You can click on a friend, and click the Red Button in the top-right of the new window to add him or her to your Buddy List.

You can click on a friend, and click the button in the top-right of the new window to add him or her to your Buddy List.

Select the red “Add Buddy” button to invite the player to be a buddy!  The other player will receive a flashing envelope icon on their screen.  When they click it, this message will appear:

If your legs are made of lava, I think it's in my best interest to be your friend.

If your legs are made of lava, I think it's in my best interest to be your friend.

If the other player clicks YES, both players will appear on the other player’s buddy list.  If the user clicks IGNORE, the sender will get a message that this user is not adding buddies at this time.  If the player clicks NO, the buddy request will be denied.

So what do I do with these buddies?

While playing in MainStreet and DownTown, your children will be able to use the buddy icon (upper right of the screen, below the camera) to see which of their buddies are currently playing on JumpStart.com.  By clicking the “visit” or “invite” buttons, your child will be able to meet up with friends, then explore and play together!

How do I manage the buddy list?

Kids can manage their buddy list in the Buddyz Booth, located on MainStreet and in The Neighborhood.  They are able to see their online, offline, and ignored buddies.  They are also able to remove online and offline buddies so they are no longer on their buddy list.  Kids also have the option to remove buddies from the ignore list to be automatically placed onto the active list.

Remember, the ability to add and visit buddies is 100% safe and 100% optional!
